ABOUT

A small team participated with a Montana-based non-profit, Red Feather to construct a straw bale house in Lame Deer, Montana for a Native American family. Our team worked with local builders and other members of the reservation to construct a house for a family in need. This knowledge was then brought to Nanyuki, Kenya to design and build clinic housing for a rural clinic on a farm just north of Mount Kenya. There, we blended these Native American techniques with local Kenyan practices. Our team worked side by side with local workers to construct the required housing so visiting doctors and nurses had a place to live while working remotely. While in Kenya, we traveled to Nairobi and met with members of UN Habitat to discuss possible sustainable solutions for the housing crisis. We were also fortunate enough to visit Jomo Kenyatta University to discuss our projects with local architecture students and view projects they were working on.
